| NOTES FOR THE PERFORMER |
|
This modal piece for string orchestra, entitled Pizzicato Pride,
uses pizzicato playing only. The composition is divided into
three sections: two Allegro sections (4/4, 120 BPM) are bridged
by a slower middle section (9/8 with irregular meters, 56 BPM).
The theme is set in counterpoint style (3 part, use of
inversion) and supported by accented chords. Near the end
the piece picks up speed and becomes more tonal. The string orchestra
must have sufficient players to allow frequent divisi playing.
