NOTES FOR THE PERFORMER
This short piece for solo flute is in atonal style with an étude character. It is based on two pitch class sets: 6-Z12 and 6-Z41 (using the classification scheme introduced by Forte), that have equal interval content. However, some tonal element from these sets were highlighted, and therefore the piece is also in the key of C-whatever. There are two somewhat contrasting themes, one espressivo, the other un puo gioscoso.
